Planning Register

Planning Register

The information in this Planning Register has been compulsorily collected and made public under law for a particular purpose.

The purpose of the Planning Register is to enable any person to check that a planning permit application has been lodged, the location of proposed land development or use and the outcome of any assessment of a planning permit application.

The City of Stonnington is the responsible authority for land development and use planning within the municipality. Under s49 of the Planning & Environment Act 1987 the responsible authority must keep a register in the prescribed form of :

  1.   all applications for permits; and
  2.   all decisions and determinations relating to permits.

The Act also requires the responsible authority to make the register available, at least during office hours, for any person to inspect free of charge. This Planning Register fulfils the requirements of the Act.

The City of Stonnington must also fulfil the requirements of the Information Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 which is applied so far as is reasonably practicable to personal information held on public registers.

Under the Information Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 it may be an interference with the privacy of an individual for a person to search through the names, addresses and other information held by the Permit Register, in order to identify and market products or services to a section of the Register that meets a particular socioeconomic profile.

Consequently a condition of use of Permit Register is that you will not facilitate direct marketing to a property where an entry for that property does not show consent to receive direct marketing at that address.

Please note that Applicant and Owner contact details are not available to search or view via the online register, however this information can be requested by contacting Planning Support on 8290 3329 or by viewing the published planning application form

For more information about how the City of Stonnington meets its obligations under the Information Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014.
